Story:

This oceanfront home was meant to be a vacation retreat for a family based in San Diego. They wanted to visit Newport Beach to enjoy the boardwalk, beach, and family holidays. The home has 180-degree ocean views. We wanted to create a clean, low-maintenance, user-friendly home with expansive space oriented towards ocean views. Robust materials to handle the salty beach environment and sun were used on the design. A large, cantilevered deck extends towards the boardwalk, creating a dramatic statement from the beach. It also allows optimal views from the second level up and down the coast. The space below the large cantilever created a comfortable shaded seating area on the boardwalk for entertaining, people watching, and enjoying the beach.
